keydrops

Upload a piano recording, paste a TikTok or YouTube link, record live, or drop in sheet music, and watch it fall into place, note by note.

Why keydrops

Nobody ever replies with the tutorial.

You've seen it a gazillion times: someone posts an incredible cover that you really wanna play, and the replies are all "tutorial please?" and "how do you do this??" BUT NOBODY REPLIES. And let's be honest, nobody has all that time to wait. keydrops skips the part of waiting entirely! Paste the link, and it shows you the notes itself, and although still in the works it can produce a very close guess that helps you learn faster.

What's inside

Everything the notes need to make sense.

AI Transcription

Every note, lifted from the recording.

Powered by Basic Pitch, an open piano-transcription model, listening for pitch, timing, and how hard each note was played.

Sheet Music

Can't read the score? Watch it instead.

Upload a PDF or photo of sheet music and it gets scanned into falling notes, with a piano playing along. MusicXML and MIDI files come through note-perfect.

Hand Separation

Left and right, tracked as you play.

Each hand is followed as its own voice through the piece, so a hand crossing into the other's range doesn't get miscolored.

Real Audio Transpose

Shift the key, hear it shift too.

Move a song up or down and the audio actually changes pitch along with the falling notes, not just the visuals.

Practice Mode

Loop the hard part until it's not.

Mark a section with A/B points and repeat just that passage, at whatever speed you need.

Take It Anywhere

Export to MIDI.

Bring the transcription into any DAW or notation program to keep working on it.

Heads up

Recording live? Still finding its footing haha.

Uploading a file or pasting a link usually means clean, already-recorded audio. A live mic in your room picks up everything else too, so for now, expect the most accurate results from a file or link, with live recording as the more experimental option while we keep tuning it.

MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV (up to 60MB)
Paste a TikTok or YouTube link (the whole "share" text is fine). We'll pull the audio and transcribe it the same way.
Click to choose sheet music, or drag it here
PDF, PNG, JPG, MusicXML, or MIDI (up to 40MB)
For the most accurate result, upload a MusicXML or MIDI file if you have one (MuseScore can export both); those come through exactly as written. PDFs and photos get scanned, which works best on a clean, straight-on, well-lit page. Scanning a long score can take a minute or two.
0:00 / 0:30
Record up to 30 seconds of live piano playing.
Recording live unfortunately is still experimental. Room noise and mic placement make it noticeably less accurate than uploading a file or pasting a link. Those tend to already be cleanly recorded, while a live mic picks up everything around it too. free to try but it's still in the works :)
